Djendjen Port Extension Project: Technical Studies Monitoring

As part of the follow-up of strategic projects aimed at developing and modernizing Algeria’s national port infrastructure, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Mr. Abdelkader Djeloui, visited the Maritime Studies Laboratory (LEM) in Hydra, Algiers, on September 15, 2026, to review the studies and experiments related to the Djendjen Port Extension Project.

The visit included technical presentations on studies conducted using scaled physical models to assess the stability of structures, wave and disturbance conditions within the basin, as well as vessel berthing conditions.

The visit was also attended by the Director General of the National Center for Construction Engineering (CNIC), alongside the various institutions and organizations involved in the project, highlighting the importance of coordination and cooperation among the different stakeholders in the implementation of strategic projects.

The Djendjen Port Extension Project forms part of efforts to strengthen Algeria’s national port capacities and support economic development, particularly in the eastern region of the country.

The National Center for Construction Engineering (CNIC) is a recognized leader in the field of construction engineering and strategic project management.
